ILTI Week Two Begins
Rise and Shine Monday Morning. Faith (from Tulsa and Kenya) set our week off on the right foot with the inspirational message Paul gives in Philippians 3. She challenged us to observe the contrast between the impossibility of living a life of righteousness under the Law verses living a life of righteousness and freedom that comes by faith though the grace of Christ. She pointed out Paul's earthly credentials under the Law, then contrasted these with the only credential of eternal value - being saved through God's grace alone.
Kenyon Gerbrandt (LEI Media Director) completed the final day of taping for Using Everyday English. There is a lot of work ahead for him as he edits and prepares the production for distribution.
Michelle shared her story in chapel telling how, at the early age of seven, she put her faith in Christ and accepted his forgiveness of her sins. Upon receiving Christ, with the heart of an evangelist, she immediately went to explain the good news of the gospel story to her sister. It would be many years later she discovered that missionaries were not as she thought - perfect people who had reached a certain point of perfection where they could share God's love with others. She realized that missionaries were imperfect people, just like everyone else, who sometimes struggled with doubt and challenges to their faith, but knew the value of living a life of obedience in Christ's service. In singing, How Firm a Foundation, in closing we were reminded that "God's grace, all sufficient, shall be (our) supply". Michelle encouraged us to "fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:2 (NIV) Hearing the testimonies of how God leads and directs individuals is always a highlight of the International Literacy Training Institute experience.
