ILTI on Tuesday
Early Tuesday morning, Pastor Emmanuel, from Ghana, led us in Bible study as we looked into the second half of Daniel 1. We concluded that God gave Daniel the exact gifts and talents that were needed to find favor with the king of Babylon, and Daniel was faithful to use them. We discovered that the king found the wisdom of Daniel and his friends to be "ten times better than that of any of his other advisors or magicians." (Daniel 1:20) Wisdom that comes from God is always better than wisdom that has a foundation in anything else. We are challenged to discover what Spiritual gifts God has placed in us and to remember to use them for the Lord's glory and for the common good of all.Tania, from Bulgaria, shared her testimony as she praised God by leading us in worship. A gifted musician, she told the story of how, as a child, God rescued her from a life threatening case of pneumonia. The medicine usually prescribed for pneumonia had a horrible side effect; it caused deafness. Even while taking this medicine for a short time, Tania kept getting sicker and sicker. Tania's mother knew she had to act quickly to help her daughter survive. Because of the Holy Spirit's intervention and the kindness of a physician who was willing to take a risk to try a different course of treatment, Tania's mother was able to reject the hospital's recommendation. A new medicine helped Tania recover her health without causing deafness. We are grateful for this doctor's help and the intervention of the GREAT PHYSICIAN. Tania blesses us with her amazing gift of music as she leads us into the Father's throne room with beautiful worship music.
Once again, we are grateful for those from Kirk of the Hills Church and from Tulsa International Fellowship who have prepared scrumptious lunches for the students.
ILTI on Wednesday
It has been a busy week for Tania. Not only did she give her testimony of God's faithfulness in chapel yesterday, today she was the Bible study leader. Since English is not her first language, she prepared very diligently to write the ten observation, three interpretation, and two application questions that she shared with us. In Daniel 2:1-11 we read about a dream of Nebuchadnezzar and his request of his wise men to tell him the dream and interpret it. Their reply (Daniel 2:11, EtRV), "Only the gods could tell the king his dream and what it means. But the god's don't live with people." Of course, for those of us who have read the rest of the story, we know that Daniel's God delivers Daniel and the others from the king's impending death sentence. Jehovah reveals the dream and its meaning through Daniel. We are grateful and blessed that our Lord is Emmanuel, "God with us." We can turn to Him for help immediately in times of trouble.
Students are busily preparing their teaching materials in their heart languages to teach reading lessons to the class. Here Harold carefully letters a poster and flashcards in his native language, Spanish.
