Kirk of the Hills 2nd Saturday

A big "thank you" is extended to Kirk of the Hills, Tulsa, for their 2nd Saturday outreach event on September 10, 2011, at our LEI campus. The Pathfinders Sunday School class visited LEI and spent the day cleaning up the grounds and gardens. This was much appreciated after the record breaking heat and drought of this past summer. Many trees and bushes needed to be lovingly pruned, and weeds were removed that had sprouted where they were not supposed to be. We appreciate all the hard work that was accomplished on this day. The grounds look revived and ready for the cooler fall weather.

The whole group covered a wide variety of ages.

Careful concentration is needed when pruning bushes.

Taking a moment to stop and smell the roses.

Careful pruning is needed to promote healthy tree growth.

John 15:1-2, 4-8 I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful...Remain in me and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. (NIV)
